Christina Costa (née Bader)
Reiki Master / Teacher
Christina's Reiki Lineage:
The lineage is a kind of pedigree. It demonstrates that the person who taught me Reiki, Torsten A. Lange, was taught and attuned by a line of Reiki Masters going back to the founder, Mikao Usui. There are many different types and styles of Reiki around today but not all of them can trace their origins back to the original teachings. Many don't include the Eastern or Japanese lineage as access to this was only made available in the 1990s (many of the Reiki Practitioners in Japan went into hiding during and after WW2).
Christina studied at the Reiki Academy London and is a Reiki Master / Teacher attuned in both the Western and Japanese lineages of the Usui System of Reiki. She can trace her lineage back to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui and prioritises simplicity and authenticity in her practice. In the words of Mikao Usui: "nothing lofty."
Christina has also completed her Reiki Diploma which conforms to the National Occupational Standards and enables her to work for the NHS. She is registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) which is an accredited register by the Professional Standards Authority. She is also a Master Practitioner Member of the Reiki Federation; the UK's largest Membership body for Reiki.
Christina works at a clinical level treating patients at St Luke's Hospice, Basildon and as a Reiki Teacher at the Hutton Poplars Lodge, Essex. She has many private clients, friends and colleagues who share Reiki and is passionate about building a Reiki community in her local area, Hutton, Essex.
Christina first became aware of Reiki after meeting two Reiki Masters on a music course. They explained that Reiki ("Ray-key") means 'universal energy' and is the energy that is around everything: humans, animals, plants, even objects. Later on in the course, Christina started noticing energy - for example the energy released when playing the bass drum. She went on to notice the varying energy levels of guests on her coach tours and how it was possible to influence them. Later that Summer, she got a Reiki treatment for herself and went on to train so that she could give treatments to herself and others.
Reiki is so useful because it works on many different levels. If I have a big task in front of me, I do some Reiki which calms me. I can also send positive energy to the situation itself.
Reiki helps me in many different ways: if I have a cold I can unblock my nose, it helps to relieve pain, it reduces the amount I have to use my asthma inhaler and it helps me approach situations with a clearer head.
Reiki can also be used as a tool to sculpt your life to be more the way you want it: eg drink less, stop smoking, exercise more, take up a hobby etc. For me, this came about because I felt more aware of my body and what made it feel good (and what didn't!).
I've given Reiki to people with shoulder pain and ankle pain and they've felt pain relief and have been able to have a great night's sleep. It was the same for a friend who'd just broken up with her boyfriend - it gave her a great sense of peace and relaxation.
It is possible to have a general Reiki treatment and just 'see what comes up.' It is also possible to use specific techniques, eg to reinforce a postive affirmation that you would like to achieve, or to find the root of a problem. You can use Reiki to re-energise spaces, ie a new house or work space.
Reiki works on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels and there is no need for a diagnosis as it simply goes where it is needed most.
