Exciting Times for Reiki!
The coronavirus has forced us all to think about things in a new way. I am so grateful that Reiki is one of the few things that we have left, due to the ability to send Reiki over distance. This means that Reiki treatments are still available for those who need it, when all other therapies have been stopped.
Zoom has become a household name overnight, and using this technology means that we can continue to meet in a group to share Reiki. It has also brought another possibility: the chance to start your day with a Reiki meditation in a group. We all know that practicing Reiki together feels stronger and through Zoom, we now have the chance to set up our days ‘the Reiki way’ and start with calm and clarity. I don’t know about you, but I definitely notice a huge improvement in the smooth running of my day when I start it with Reiki!
This leads me to the next question: is it possible to teach Reiki using Zoom?
I started with a Reiki 2 course as my ‘guinea pigs.’ They bravely volunteered and as I sent the first round of distant attunements, I held my breath: what would they experience? I talked them through their individual attunements live on Zoom and waited to hear the feedback.
“I saw colours and light all around me!” said one.
“I went back to a memory from my childhood, just as I did during my Reiki 1 attunement” said another.
“I could feel the energy even before you called my name!” said another.
The anecdotal evidence is there: distant attunements work.
This week I face my greatest virtual challenge so far. Will it be possibly to teach Reiki 1 students who have no prior experience of Reiki over Zoom?
Find out next week!
In the meantime, please join our daily meditations and shares on Zoom.
