What happens during a Reiki Treatment?
Lesley and I had a giggle making a video of one of our weekly sessions for you below:
How often should I come for

A Reiki treatment usually involves a relaxing experience lying down fully clothed on a couch for 45 minutes.  The Practitioner will place their hands on different areas of your body (never anywhere inappropriate!) and leave them there until they feel it's time to move to the next position.

Reiki can also be given to a client in a seated position, or with hands hovering a few inches above the body, or from a distance.  The seated position is useful if the client is unable or prefers not to lie down and the hands off approach is for people who prefer not to be touched.  I tend to use these approaches mainly at the hospice if a patient is in too much pain to move or be touched.

Distance healing also works although it's better to be present if possible.  I usually use distance healing for myself when doing healing swaps with colleagues or if a friend needs it who is far away.  If you find this idea odd, I completely understand as I did too! It's definitely something which you have to feel working to believe.

During a treatment some people feel warmth coming from my hands, some feel cool air, some feel nothing at all and fall asleep!  The beauty of Reiki is that the client doesn't have to believe in anything for it to work, just simply close their eyes and relax.

Reiki works on all levels of a person: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.  Once I connect to Reiki and then to the client during a treatment, the Reiki goes to where it is needed.  Unfortunately I have no control over that!  This means that although for example you have back pain, the Reiki may go to your throat chakra to clear an emotional issue which is causing you physical pain.  This is a completely different approach to healing which we are used to in the Western world, which is treating the symptoms with medication.

There are no recorded contra-indications of Reiki, which makes it an ideal treatment for everyone, even (or especially) if you are on medication or expecting a baby.

As often as possible!  The benefits of receiving Reiki are limitless and it is impossible to overdo it.  I practise Reiki on myself daily and do monthly Reiki shares with colleagues.  Although once you are attuned to Reiki it is possible to give yourself a self-treatment, it is so much nicer when someone else can do it for you!  Most people prefer to have Reiki treatments weekly, although if this is not feasible for you, then when not learn Reiki yourself?  You can give yourself unlimited self-treatments then.
